NORTHERN BC CORRIDOR: EXPLORING CLEAN TRANSPORTATION

We're testing how clean trucks perform in Northern BC's demanding conditions. This project explores both hydrogen fuel cell and battery electric vehicles for commercial use, helping us understand what works – and what doesn't – in real-world operations.

THE PROJECT

For 12 months, we're testing:

REAL-WORLD TESTING

What We're Learning:

  • How trucks handle different weather
  • Performance with various loads
  • Range and fuel efficiency
  • Maintenance needs
  • Operating costs
  • Driver experience

Where We're Testing:

  • Long-haul: Prince Rupert to Terrace
  • Local: Prince Rupert area
  • Various terrains and conditions

MAKING IT POSSIBLE

Infrastructure:

  • On-site hydrogen production in Prince Rupert
  • Electric charging stations
  • Operator training
  • Maintenance support

WORKING TOGETHER

Our Partners:

WHY THIS MATTERS

Our findings will help:

  • Guide clean transportation policy
  • Support business decisions
  • Show where this technology works best
  • Speed up adoption where it makes sense
  • Reduce emissions in key freight corridors

Funded in part by Transport Canada's Zero Emission Trucking Testbed Program
